The Writer's Life

I spent the whole of two hours this morning, not writing part 7.

Before you guys show me that disappointed face, let me tell you why.

I didn't write part 6 sooner because I was painting myself into a corner in the story and I wasn't sure how to get out.   After realizing that there are actual fans who care and look forward to the story (and let's be honest - the hot juicy bits), I threw myself back into the story and angonizingly finished part 6.

Not wanting to repeat the same misery I put myself through, for the remaining parts of the story, I temporarily STOPPED writing for a few days while I did some homework.  My homework consisted of READING a nifty little guide I happened upon while mulling over my plot points.

Thank goodness I took the time to read it from front to back.  It helped to remind me of some really important writing tips that I had forgotten, which helped to make writing a joy again.

So those two hours I spent NOT writing part 7 this morning, were spent instead, ripping apart the remainder of my story and building it anew.  It was painful but necessary.  I re-wrote the ending of the series till my hands were weak.  And that picture above is proof.

Those pages within view are the whole of the rest of the Awakening series.  YES! - parts 7, 8, 9 and 10 are fully mapped out.  I am excited to START writing again!  And even MORE excited to have you guys read it when I'm done!

So after some late lunching (just leftovers... my writing career is not so glamorous yet :)) I will dive back into part 7 with zest and zeal!

Changes afoot people, changes afoot!

Welcome... Again?!

Hey Guys!

Welcome :)  I'm glad your brief journey from the other site was made!  Take a seat!

I've been contemplating the move to Blogger/Blogspot for some time but I'd been dreading the move.  But I thought the launch of part 6 of the Awakenings series would be a good changeover point and so the change is made.

As you've probably noticed, the header of this site is different - it says Lillian B. and NOT Lillian Bendover.

There are a few reasons for this:

1) I wanted to remain as classy as possible.  My full name does not  line up with what my writing (though still naughty :)) has panned out to be.

2)Though I don't care what people think about the things between the pages of what I write, my name in its entirety, immediately stops most folks, who would probably get off on what I write from even considering my books.  Puns intended.

So I shortened it to Lillian B. - this will hopefully get me into more doors and into more folks' hands.  Only time will tell.

Of course this will cause all kinds of re-branding nightmares for me - as over the coming weeks, I will be redoing all of my covers.  Yes, all 13 of them.  The inner parts will remain the same, with my full name appearing between the pages.

What does this mean for you Guys - probably not much of an inconvenience?!  Or maybe just a small change to get used to?

I'd be curious actually to know what you guys think of this change. Leave me a comment below with your thoughts!

I'll post more once I get through all of these cover changes done - hang in there with me guys - I have some discounts coming your way by weeks end!

Truth

I'm not going to lie to you guys - I became discouraged.

So much so that I stopped writing.

Almost everything.

Even the Awakenings series.  I haven't looked at it since... my last post here, in February.

I feel bad - those few of you who have stuck with me I'm sure, are waiting for the next installment.

I thought about abandoning this completely - completely.

But I checked on here and I've noticed that there has been steady traffic to this site, even in my absence.

I ♥ you guys... I really do :)

So... I will read over what I've written in the Awakening series and I will begin writing it again in the morning.

Your loyalty humbles me and I not only respect that, I need to reward it.

I love you all, I truly mean it,

Lesbian Erotic Writing - What It Is and What It Means To Me

Hey Guys!

I was ruminating the other night about the smut, porn, erotica that I write for you guys and what it means to me.  I know - this shouldn't be one of those questions that keeps me up at night but what can I say?  It did keep me up and this write up is what I have to show for it.

When I began this lesbian erotica journey almost a year ago, I was honestly in it just for the money.  I read so many online forums and stories of folks making a living off of writing smut that I decided, why not?  I would give it a try and see how far I could go - it wouldn't cost me much more than my time and imagination.  And anyway, how difficult could it be to write about two women getting it on?  Seriously.

But here I am, months later and I have to say, writing erotica, specifically lesbian erotica is not what I thought it would be.  I think I expected to find smart, well written, well thought out characters and situations.  I think I expected to be slowly (or roughly if that's what I was looking for) seduced by the author's words into getting my rocks off.  I was more than eager to sample various writings along the way and simultaneously make my mark.  I was excited to be a working author and to join the lesbian erotic writer's in the smut lit fray!

I laugh at myself now because I had NO CLUE that lesbian erotica was such a miniscule pool and that much of the writings out there would be geared towards men, written by women who weren't lesbian or written by a man.  Now before you go clicking away, I am not a man hating lesbian - I love men, they are pretty awesome and not just as the other 50% of the baby making equation or for fixing things.  As a card carrying lesbian, I am not averse to the male physique.  I just have no inclination to have sex with a man or to marry one.  My surprise is really at how under-served the lesbian erotic genre is.

Before I get tarred and feathered, I have run across some lesbian erotica authors who are really good but by far that would seem to be the exception and not the rule.  So I got to thinking some more - what do I want my writing to be?  What does it mean to me?

I want my erotica to be smart, I want it to be genuine, I want it to be encompassing, I want it to move and delight whomever is reading it.  I want my writing to stir my readers and compel them to examine their own reasons into love making or fucking.  I want it to be good in the least and memorable in the long run.

Though its been some time since I last published for you guys (I've been unwell for some weeks - booo!!) I want the erotica that I write for you all to matter.

So tell me - what does lesbian erotica mean to you?  And why do you read it?

The fountain was pretty foamy... and smelled like a bottle of bleach but this picture is pretty awesome nonetheless.

Sabbatical Tactics

Hey Guys!

First official day of this sabbatical and I decided I wanted to share what usually kept me going when I was busy writing for your guys:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Cinnamon Dolce Lattes are generally the fuel I use to keep me going.  It is simultaneously sweet, a little savory, nicely spiced and filling - so I can keep from stopping to actually eat a meal.

How do I like mine? Tall, decaf, soy, no whip.  That festive cup is also a nice touch.

What keeps you going when you're in your zone and need to refuel?!
